PIPNU Wins Prestigious Award from Global Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants

We are proud to share that PIPNU has been honoured with a distinguished award from the Global Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants in recognition of our continued commitment to improving neonatal health and care. The award ceremony took place in Germany, where our Managing Director, Mr. Bazilio, had the honour of attending the event and receiving the award on behalf of the entire PIPNU team. This global recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our staff, partners, and supporters who share our mission to provide the best possible care for newborns. We are deeply grateful to the Foundation for this acknowledgment, and we remain inspired to continue our work with even greater passion and purpose. Thank you for being part of our journey.

Kangaroo Care Ambassadors Initiative

As part of our commitment to improving outcomes for preterm infants, PIPNU has launched the Kangaroo Care Ambassadors campaign. Through this initiative, we are training local ambassadors in preterm care and empowering them to conduct regular visits to families using an advanced digital tool developed by Dimagi. This tool enables full tracking and profiling of preterm infants, supporting informed, continuous care that promotes healthier growth and development. Together, we are building stronger community support systems to give every newborn the best possible start in life.

Supporting Preterm Babies at Kawempe Hospital

In 2022, the PIPNU team carried out a heartfelt outreach visit to Kawempe National Referral Hospital, one of the busiest maternity facilities in Uganda. During this visit, we delivered a range of critical donation supplies specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of preterm and low birth weight infants. The donated items included warm clothing, blankets, diapers, feeding equipment, and hygiene supplies—all carefully selected to help improve the comfort and survival chances of babies born too soon. These resources were distributed in collaboration with the hospital’s neonatal care staff, who expressed deep appreciation for the timely support. This initiative was part of our broader commitment to strengthening neonatal care systems and supporting healthcare workers who are often overwhelmed by high patient loads and limited resources. It also provided our team with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with hospital personnel, listen to their challenges, and explore areas for continued partnership and support. At PIPNU, we believe that no baby should be left behind, and through donations like these, we aim to create immediate and tangible impact in the lives of the most vulnerable newborns and their families.

Preterm Mother followups

At PIPNU, we believe that lasting change begins with informed communities. Our communication and advocacy campaigns aim to raise awareness about the challenges faced by preterm mothers and their children in Uganda.

Communication and Advocacy Campaign

Through storytelling, media outreach, and community engagement, we amplify their voices and promote policies that support better maternal and newborn health. Together, we’re shaping a more compassionate and supportive environment for every mother and child.
